IMRT Treatment Plan for Prostate
RMG, Inc. supports a strong physics team that uses state of the art computer and treatment planning technology to provide high-quality radiation therapy. An inter-office computer network is heavily employed to transfer CT, MRI, and PET patient images for 3D treatment planning. The suite of treatment planning equipment include ADAC Pinnacle (3D Conformal and IMRT planning), VariSeed Brachytherapy (Prostate seed implants) and VariSource HDR (Gynecological and other treatments).
RMG has 8 Phillips Pinnacle treatment planning systems that are able to carry out both IMRT and 3D conformal treatment planning. Planning data and MLC parameters are transferred electronically to the IMPAC record and verification system. IMRT planning is carefully reviewed through a joint effort between the physician and physicist. Sophisticated quality assurance is evaluated using film dosimetry and ion chamber measurements before each patient is treated. The film is analyzed using RIT software to ensure the accurate dose delivery for IMRT. Patient IMRT treatments are carried out on delivered with 5 Varian Linear Accelerators.
Multimodality images of MRI, MR Spectroscopy, CT and PET can be fused on the Phillips Pinnacle treatment planning system to assist the radiation oncologist in localizing the tumor bed before the radiation treatment planning.
Digital information is efficiently provided by an inter-office computer network. This high speed network allows us to do remote treatment planning for different offices. In addition, the latest radiation measurement equipment and various Quality Assurance devices are available for use by the Physics Division.
